Seeking Members: Grant Writing Committee
Do you have a love in animals and an interest in writing? Consider joining our Grant Writing Committee today!
Bide Awhile Animal Shelter is seeking individuals to join our Volunteer Grant Writing Committee. We’re looking for people that are organized, detail-oriented, and have good investigation skills to help Bide Awhile respond to open grant and funding applications.
Experience Desired:
- Grant response writing for not-for-profit organization an asset.
- Business writing skills.
- Experience building responses to RFPs (request for proposals) or other comprehensive documents.
- Microsoft Office skills using Word, and Excel.
- Ability to build a PowerPoint presentation an asset.
Responsibilities will include:
- Compile research, grant deadlines and establish benchmarks for each grant.
- Help keep track of information being collected and follow up with other members for missing information.
- Writing skills: someone who can take information and make sense of it/present it for readers/funders to assess.
- Ability to proof-read and adjust content based on feedback from committee members.
- Excellent communication skills to work with the committee. This includes being available for meetings (online) and being responsive to email requests.
- Help manage and organize grant response library in MS SharePoint
Time Investment:
- Volunteer hours may vary from 5-10 hours per grant response.
- Attend meetings every 4-8 weeks (or as needed).
- Commitment to checking and responding to emails every few days.
- Committee members are asked to commit for 12 months+
