Enrichment Activities | Fun for Pets
Enrichment activities are a great way for pets to express their natural instincts and curiosities. The best part is they don’t need to be complicated or expensive! Try some of these enrichment ideas with your pet and see how their personality comes to life.
Ice in Bag
Items needed: Ziplock Bag, Ice
Directions: Break apart ice into individual cubes, place into Ziplock bag and remove all the excess air. Lay bag flat on the floor and show your pet how the cubes can move around. Now let them take over and play with the cubes – as the ice melts, the feeling of the bag will change for your pet.
Bring the Outside Inside
Items needed: Seasonal Items Found Outside (snow, leaves, grass clippings, etc.)
Directions: Place the outside item on the floor and let your pet smell, roll, and play in it! This gives your pet a chance to experience different textures and scents.
Cardboard Village
Items needed: Cardboard Boxes
Directions: Use your imagination to build a cardboard village with old empty boxes. You can cut holes, glue, or tape them together to make a mega-box!
Bubbles
Items needed: Sparkling Water, Clear Plastic Cup
Directions: Pour the sparkling water in the plastic cup and place it on the floor. Let your pet experience the “strange” water by watching it, touching it, or even drinking it!
