Basil | Palliative Care Foster

11 Year Old | Male

Basil is a bundle of cuddles and affection. He spends his days assisting the office staff with every phone call, email, and Zoom meeting. This sweet guy likes to get what he wants, when he wants – and is very vocal if he doesn’t.

He’s looking for a home where he can be the only cat. Ideally, one with a lot of attention and room to run out the zoomies (don’t let his age fool you!). He does have Irritable Bowel Disease that could make him prone to accidents outside the litter box, but he’s only had one since his arrival at the shelter.

Basil’s Palliative Needs:

  • Irritable Bowel Disease which requires a special diet.
  • Monthly visits to Bide Awhile for B12 injections.
  • Prednisolone (liquid) once a day.
  • Gabapentin (liquid) twice a day.
  • Supplements as needed.
  • Metal or glass bowls to prevent chin acne.
  • Low, non-covered litter box (provided by Bide Awhile).
  • Bi-Annual checkups and bloodwork with our veterinarian.

Through this program, these cats are able to live out their best retirement days in the comfort of a home while still having their medical care provided by the shelter. Fosters are only required to provide food, litter, and love.
