Summer Job Opportunity: Office Administrative Assistant

Are you a punctual and organized individual looking for a summer job? We’re hiring an Office Administrative Assistant for an eight-week term thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program. 

As the Administrative Assistant, you will work closely with the Office Administrator and Executive Director to manage administrative tasks related to the Bide Awhile Animal Shelter.  

Key duties in this position include: 

  • File Management: assisting with the adoption paperwork, veterinary and medical files, and fundraising records. 
  • Organization: managing inventory of supplies, organization of files and front office, assisting with scheduled activities. 
  • Data Entry: assisting in uploading animal files and keeping files up to date in our animal tracking software, uploading contact information. 
  • Customer Service: being a point of contact for the shelter, answering the phone, assisting those who come to the shelter. 

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the phone. 
  • Ability to appropriately multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong communication and organization skills, with high attention to detail. 
  • Customer service experience is considered an asset. 
  • Knowledge of animal care is considered an asset. 
  • Previous experience or education in an administrative role is considered an asset. 

Applicant Requirements of Canada Summer Jobs: 

  • Between 15-30 years of age on the start date of the job. 
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). 
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. 

Anticipated Start Date: July 2, 2024
Length of Employment: 8 Weeks
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9AM – 5PM
Wage: $15.50 / Hour
