Ceilidh for Critters once again raised almost $8000 in net proceeds directly to the Bide Awhile Animal Shelter in Dartmouth.
In these apparently difficult economic times, the word that comes to my mind is community.
The value of community is not only represented by dollars, but in smiling faces, and the forging of new friendships and partnerships. There is strong cross pollination at work each year during Ceilidh for Critters. We are not all the same. Some of us are pet people, some of us are music people, and many of us are both.
From our very first year we maintained our vision to feature original East Coast talent, while remaining focused on raising money for the critters. This year was our first Songwriter's Circle, which met with a standing ovation. It's a winning formula we intend on repeating every year from here forward. Many people came out for the music, and left with a new knowledge and appreciation for the invaluable service the Bide Awhile has provided to our community for 40 years.
And many people who came out for the Bide Awhile were quick to embrace our rich musical community after being entertained by five of our best local singer/songwriters. We would like to send a special thank you to Stephen Fearing, Laura Smith, Dave Carroll, Norma MacDonald, and RyLee Madison for your beautiful spirit.
We believe we started something very special and unique over six years ago, and are very proud we have come "full circle". Those who cannot speak thank you. It is them who benefit most from your gift of song. And thank you to our Title Sponsors: Global Pet Foods, Miller Tire, and FX101.9 and our numerous volunteers…many hands make light work.
