I'm Found - Gretchen's Story
Hello everyone at Bide Awhile,
Last week we adopted Annette from your shelter. Before I go any further, I should probably mention that she's undergone a name-change, so I'll be referring to her as Gretchen from now on.
It took no time at all for Gretchen to become comfortable in her new home. She spent a while skulking around sniffing every corner, followed closely by our other cat, Marvin. They have had a few noisy, hissy encounters, but they are just feeling each other out. We think Marvin is part dog, and he just wants to PLAY all the time, so while one nose-touching will go perfectly fine, another might result in a chase through the house or a growling, hissing Gretchen.
She's starting to warm up to us nicely. She tries to pretend that she's aloof and doesn't have a heart, but she purrs, chirps, and extends a paw when we come around after being at work or when we wake up in the morning. When we enter a room with Gretchen, we can expect her to jump up and release an emphatic meow. She loves to play, and she loves to look out the window at all the goings-on in the neighbourhood.
In short, she's a wonderful cat and we are very happy we found her. While we were surprised when you told us she had been at Bide Awhile for a year, we now know why nobody took her before us…you see, she was supposed to come home with us. We already love her so much and the feeling is apparently mutual.
Sincerely,
Kim and Keegan
